Internship Programme
The National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) offers both non-stipend and stipend-based internship opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate students of recognized universities and institutes.
Objectives of the Internship Programmes
- To orient students to India’s disaster management system and institutional practices.
- To encourage innovation, applied research, and documentation in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).
- To build a pipeline of trained human resources in disaster management and allied domains.
A. Non-Stipend Internship Programme: Internships are opened once in a year, in the month of October for the session from January to June. Applications are invited exclusively through the Google form which will be available on the NIDM website throughout the month of October
Eligibility: Applications are open to final year UG students, and PG/MPhil/PhD students, with a minimum of 60% marks in relevant disciplines. Students who have recently completed their degree or are awaiting final results may also apply. Relevant disciplines include (indicative): Disaster Management (preferable) or Development Studies, Economics, Social Sciences, Environmental Science, Geography, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Mass Communication, Management, Engineering, Health Studies, Architecture, Design, and allied fields.
No. of Interns and period of Internship: A maximum of 20 interns will be inducted. The period of Internship is minimum 2 and maximum 6 months.
B. Stipend-Based Internship Programme: Internships shall be opened once in a year, in the month of March for the session from May to August (summer session) and October to January (winter session). Applications are invited exclusively through the Google form which will be available on the NIDM website throughout the month of March/April subject to date of advertisement.
Eligibility: Eligible candidates must have at least 65% marks in their last academic program/semester relevant disciplines. Students who have recently completed their degree or are awaiting final results may also apply. Relevant disciplines include (indicative): Disaster Management (preferable) or Development Studies, Economics, Social Sciences, Environmental Science, Geography, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Mass Communication, Management, Engineering, Health Studies, Architecture, Design, and allied fields.
No. of Interns and period of Internship: A maximum of 30 interns will be inducted annually (15 per session). The period of internship is minimum of 2 months and maximum 4 months, with a stipend of ₹12,000/month for undergraduates and ₹15,000/month for postgraduates. No TA/DA or other allowances shall be admissible.

Note:
- The location of internship will be NIDM Delhi and Vijayawada campus.
- No email-based or physical applications shall be accepted or acknowledged prior or after the period of advertisement.
- Decision of the Competent Authority shall be final and binding.

- Interns are required to adhere strictly to institutional rules, timelines, and assigned work, submit internship reports in the prescribed format within the approved duration.
