Background
Every year NIDM has been receiving requests for Internship particularly during the summer months for students/ researchers from academic / research / training institutions. Such requests have been considered on a case to case basis. In view of the increasing number of such requests, these Guidelines are being laid down for admitting such Interns. Objective
Eligibility Students pursuing graduation/post graduation degree or diploma courses from recognized colleges, universities, training and professionals institutions etc., shall be eligible for admission as Interns during summer holidays and other seasons. Duration Duration of internship will in general be 4-8 weeks (maximum 2 months). The candidate will be required to produce a permission letter from their Supervisor or Head of Department, in case he/she is interested to join internship. Token Remuneration Interns shall have to make their own arrangement for their stay as NIDM will not be able to provide accommodation. However, a token remuneration @ Rs. 10000/- per month per intern shall be paid as stipend to cover their local travel and other contingency at the end of the internship. Logistics Support Interns will be provided with the necessary logistics support, i.e. office space and computer with internet facility. Attachment The Interns would be attached with different Divisions of the NIDM keeping in view the areas of interest expressed by the candidates and as per the preference of that Division and the Division with whom the intern is attached will prepare a specific project for the internship. The interns could also be attached with Professors/ Associate Professors/ Consultants / Assistant Professors of the NIDM on individual basis depending on their field of activity and work assigned. The concerned Faculty Member shall be responsible for the supervision of the work assigned to the individual interns. Interns shall submit their detailed Work Plan which would be approved with such modifications as may be considered necessary before they are admitted. Interns will be provided the opportunity to attend/ facilitate the training programmes, workshops, conferences and seminars conducted during the period of internship. Submission of Report The interns will be required to present an Internship Report to NIDM at the end of the internship. Simultaneously, they will also be required to give their mandatory feedback on their experience of working in the concerned Divisions of NIDM. Certificate of Internship At the end of the interns will have to submit the Study Report on the approved topic. Certificate will be issued only to those who successfully complete the assigned project work and submit their Report. Selection Process The applications received for Internship and the proposals for study will be reviewed by the Selection Committee constituted for the purpose on the basis of the qualification and experience of the candidates and the merit of the study proposal. The final decision shall be taken by the Executive Director, NIDM. All the applications will be scrutinized by the Selection Committee. The actual offer will be sent to the selected interns subject to availability of slots, consent of the concerned Division /Faculty Member and approval of the Executive Director. NIDM shall accommodate interns not exceeding ten at a time. Declaration of Secrecy Interns are required to furnish to the NIDM a declaration of secrecy before reporting for the internship.
