A number of Ministries and Departments of Government of India, State Governments, research organization and training institutions, government agencies, corporate sectors and civil society organizations are expected to collaborate with NIDM for organizing the First Disaster Management Congress.

Ministry of Home Affairs  is the nodal Ministry of Government of India for disaster management. The Ministry piloted the Disaster Management Act 2005, which has provided the legal and institutional framework for disaster management in the country.

National Disaster Management Authority has been created by the Disaster Management Act 2005 for the preparation of national policies, plans of action and sectoral policies and plans of action on disaster management in the country. The Authority is headed by the Prime Minister and has a Vice Chairman and six other Members.

Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperation is the nodal Ministry of Government of India for the management of drought in the country

Ministry of Environment and Forests is the nodal Ministry of Government of India on all environmental issues including climate change, industrial and chemical disasters and issues related air and water pollution

Ministry of Science and Technology is the nodal Ministry of Government of India for scientific and technological research in the country. The Ministry has two Departments, Department of Science and Technology and Department of Ocean Development. Both the departments have a large number of scientific and technological institutions, many of which play important role in the prevention and mitigation of disasters in the country.  

Ministry of Heath and Family Welfare is the nodal Ministry of Government of India for all health related disasters including epidemics, pandemics etc and is responsible for emergency health management in the country. 

Department of Space has a number of specialized institutions for remote sensing and space research, which facilitate early warning of disasters. The department has a large of number of Space Application Centers, which are playing important role in sensitizing communities in disaster preparedness.

State Governments Disaster Management/ Relief Departments of the State Governments are the nodal authorities for disaster management in the States. Disaster Management Centers of the Administrative Training Institutes of the States are responsible for training and capacity building of government and non-functionaries on disaster management.
