State Resource Institutes

The identified State Resource Institutes (SRI) will conduct training programme for 10,000 engineers of Urban Local bodies, PWD and private sector. The course would contain in puts on building byelaws/BIS codes and seismic safe constructions. In addition the SRIs will assist Municipal bodies in review and amendment of building byelaws. The SRI will also assist the State Government in creation of a framework for mandatory registration/ certification of engineers in private and public sector. These Institutes will also provide consultation services for the State to assess seismic vulnerability and suggest retrofitting of key lifeline buildings.

The SRIs have trained 982 practising engineers till 2007-08. (SRI wise position of trained engineers & funds)
