Training of practicing engineers
A total of 105 State Resource Institutes (on an average 3 from each State/UT) will be identified for this purpose in consultation with State Government/UT Administrations. The State Resource Institutes will impart training to the PWD/Municipal engineers and private sector engineers in a phased manner. The training of the practicing engineers will be based on a two weeks module consisting of mainly two parts with one week each (5 working days), in RCC construction and in masonry construction. (

The SRIs will train 10,000 engineers- 6,000 engineers in the public sector and 4,000 engineers in the private sector. The engineers so trained will assist the respective Government/organization in amending local building bye laws with reference to earthquake safety issues.
