Curriculum

A standard curriculum has been finalized in consultation with a core group for conducting training of trainers programme, a one week module. Broad contents of the curriculum include building safety from natural hazards: an introduction, elementary seismology, introduction to theory of vibrations, site planning, building forms and architectural design concepts for earthquake resistance, performance of ground & buildings in past earthquakes, seismic design principles, structural detailing, earthquake resistant construction details, construction quality control, vulnerability assessment & seismic strengthening of buildings, techno-legal & techno-financial aspects in building projects, architectural design projects and teaching methodology. The participants will be thoroughly examined for their understanding on the topics covered during the course. This is to be conducted by NRIs.

The broad contents of the course material include building safety from natural hazards: an introduction, elementary seismology, introduction to theory of vibrations, site planning, building forms and architectural design concepts for earthquake resistance, performance of ground & buildings in past earthquake, seismic design principles, structural detailing, earthquake resistant construction details, construction quality control, vulnerability assessment & seismic strengthening of buildings, techno-legal & techno-financial aspects in building projects and architectural design projects. The participants will be examined for their learning in the topics covered during the course.
