Activities

The following objectives have been identified to be achieved as follows:-

  • 10 National Resource Institutes (NRI) will train the trainers through a standard curriculum finalized in consultation core group constituted for this purpose. The trainers will be identified from the leading Engineering Colleges from each State, which will act as State Resource Institutes (SRI) for the State.

  • The SRIs will train Engineers in building bylaws / BIS codes and seismic safe constructions. The Engineers will be drawn from Municipal bodies, PWD as well as from the private sector.

  • The SRIs will also work with the State Administration to assist them to modify the building bylaws to make the same compliant to the BIS codes for seismically safe construction. They will also provide technical expertise to the State Government for evaluating seismic safety of lifeline buildings and carrying out retrofitting of these buildings.

  • Establishment of Hazard Safety Cells in each State / UT to conduct structure safety audit of the Public Sector Projects.

  • The SRIs will undertake two weeks training programme for 10,000 engineers.
